However, the Deployment Process has several challenges beyond user configuration, installing the software, and data migration. Taking the Pain out of Deployment…
Guardian aims to streamline and simplify the process through a methodology of best practices built around two key principles - Image Creation and Image Propagation.
Image Creation is what we refer to as taking a "snap shot of your system." This provides the customized interface for duplicating the contents of any hard drive.
After the image is created, we then propagate and install the file on the network. It is during this phase of Image Propagation that determines whether it is either done manually or automatically, to either the Servers or PCs.
We highly recommend that both Servers and PCs be standardized whenever you begin the Deployment Process. Just to be crystal clear -- Guardian is not a reseller. And, as such, we extend value-adds to your company such as purchasing Servers from HP, Compaq, and IBM. PCs are completely different entities in and of themselves. It is our breath-of-experience that enables us to further enhance your deployment strategy - as we will spec and negotiate with the vendor of your choosing. When you engage us for your Deployment Process, we extend this courtesy completely free of charge.
Guardian makes Deploying Servers/PCs look easy for both small businesses and enterprises alike. But please, make no mistake - Guardian invests three hours in the planning phase, behind the scenes, dedicated to the preparation and strategy -- for your organization to realize about one hour of implementation time.
Planning for the Unknown…
It happens more often than you think… There are natural disasters -- "Acts of God," such as floods, fires, and hurricanes. And unfortunately, as we are all too aware of in 2002, there are man-made disasters such as computer viruses, malicious hackers, and even terrorist attacks -- all which can have a long-term impact on your company.
Protecting your data starts with sound maintenance and a deployment plan. In fact it is critical to the success of recovering and restoring your data. Therefore, we ultimately implore that all data should be stored on the Server and not on the PCs.
Think about this… MTBF is an acronym, and it stands for Mean Time Between Failure. Every Server/Computer has an MTBF Rating. Case in point, if you have a drive with 10,000 hours -- this translates into the fact that you can expect to experience 1 failure or interruption, every 10,000 hours.
So it really isn't a question if your Server/Computer will experience an interruption, but when…?
When something goes awry with your system, we utilize the necessary tools implemented during the Deployment Phase to fix the issue. It is during the initial phase where we create a "snap shot of your system." This enables us to solve and restore any issues -- usually within 30 to 40 minutes. And, since nothing is stored on the PC, we pull the data from the Server and your system is brought back online with your mission critical files intact. This methodology has real advantages that can be measured in time, money, and productivity.
On the other end of the spectrum, laptops require a change in strategy. When your road warriors connect to your network, they need to sync up. Guardian supplies you with the all right tools in order to accomplish the task. Recognize that laptops are 5X more prone to failure, virus susceptibility, and security issues. This all translates to one concept… you must be diligent to ensure that your invaluable data is backed up. Once connected to your network, the road warriors abide by all the same principles as apply to the desktops.
